Whisky Mash: Fettercairn
Nestled in the foothills of the Cairngorm mountains, Fettercairn have been crafting magnificent whisky since 1824. Founded by Sir Alexander Ramsay, one of the many Scottish landowners to campaign for the licensing of Scotch whisky production, he was one of the very first to apply for a license once they became available and swiftly set about hiring stillmen who formerly operated illicit stills, knowing only they had the working knowledge and skills required to produce the quality of whisky he desired.
Always doing things a little differently, Fettercairn have incorporated several unique aspects to their distillation process over their near two hundred year history, including engineering a copper cooling ring on their still, allowing it to be continuously cooled during production, helping to create the tropical character which lies at the heart of every Fettercairn expression.
It’s a delight to have Fettercairn joining us at Whisky Mash this year, and we’re excited to see what wondrous wares they’ll have for all of you to sample!
