These are a great accompaniment to an after-dinner whisky. Mild, but must be smoked slowly and savoured to get the full palate of aromas that it has to offer.
As long-filler sticks go, they certainly don’t get any more succinct and compact than the El Rey Del Mundo Demi Tasse. Barely larger than a Purito, the Demi Tasse gives something of a false sense of scale perspectively; to look at it one would think it would be a two second smoke and you’re done, but when holding it in your hand it suddenly seems far less of a novelty. Much like a particularly flavourful low ABV beer, the Demi Tasse is a mind-boggling prospect, it’s hard to work out just exactly how they managed to cram so much complexity into such a small package, but it’s there in spades! Mild throughout the ~15 minute smoking experience; it opens with a herbaceous, bordering on floral, aroma, which soon develops into slightly woodier notes of cedar and a touch of leather, with a growing ancillary spice that titillates the palate on the approach to the finish. A perfect accompaniment to a quick coffee break, fantastic for the smoker on the go, and even an excellent way to ingratiate newcomers to the world of cigars. It’s easy to see why they named the brand “King of the World!” (El Rey Del Mundo translated).
